Governance & Compliance — Runtime Compliance Trail

The Runtime Compliance Trail that writes itself

Whether it’s a data protection inspection, an external audit or an internal audit, it always starts the same way: the hunt for evidence — scattered across systems, spreadsheets and inboxes. The Runtime Compliance Trail turns this around: evidence is generated while your systems run, and it’s ready before anyone asks for it.

Automatically generated evidence instead of manually compiled documentation

Completeness rules automatically check the structures you have captured. Based on the approved models, pre-populated documentation is then generated from the metadata about your data — as a basis for your GDPR documentation obligations (such as your records of processing activities under Art. 30), without having to piece information together from Excel sheets or interviews.

Recorded immutably instead of reconstructed after the fact

Model Atlas, Data Atlas and Event Atlas give every relevant change to your data structures and systems a unique, tamper-proof fingerprint and record it live in the Runtime Compliance Trail — available at any time for audits, control evidence or provenance records.

Continuous control verification instead of spot checks

Because the trail records continuously, controls can be verified on an ongoing basis — so you know your actual compliance posture at any time, not just as of your last audit.

View the Runtime Compliance Trail — in your existing tools or a dedicated interface

The evidence integrates directly into your existing reporting or GRC platform, so your established audit and control processes stay as they are. If you don’t have a suitable tool, we can provide an optional analytics interface based on Eclipse Daanse that displays the Runtime Compliance Trail interactively — again, with no separate visualisation tool to buy and integrate.

Compatible with what you already have

Connectivity & interfaces

  • Evidence available via widely used interfaces — ready to connect to your existing reporting, GRC and audit tools.
  • Further integrations can be added as needed — as an additional module in our adapter layer, without reworking existing components.

Organisation & operations

  • Multi-tenancy from the ground up — evidence managed across multiple divisions, subsidiaries or organisational units, each with its own access rights.
  • Flexible deployment — on-premises, hosted or hybrid, depending on your infrastructure.

What sets us apart

Established GRC suites and continuous control monitoring tools manage registers and test controls without any real knowledge of the underlying IT landscape. They focus on predefined controls for known system types — so new or unusual systems easily slip through the cracks. The Runtime Compliance Trail, by contrast, is built on the same foundation as our data platform: Model Atlas, Data Atlas and Event Atlas. Every relevant change is captured live, directly from day-to-day operations, rather than being entered retroactively into a separately maintained register. This builds trust on traceable evidence rather than self-assessment — and the evidence also flows into your existing audit and control tools instead of becoming yet another isolated silo. For you, that means less manual effort at your next audit — because the evidence is already there.

We develop open source

Not as a concession, but out of conviction: what is created with public money should belong to everyone — not to a corporation. In the spirit of Public Money, Public Code, the code itself belongs to no one exclusively. More and more organisations now explicitly require this, because it gives them greater IT security, interoperability and vendor independence. We are part of the Eclipse Foundation. For you, this means a sovereign choice — one that stands on its own, regardless of what happens to us as a company.

For teams looking to embed regulatory requirements into their development practice, our Compliance & Security Training covers CRA, NIS-2 and OWASP in depth.
